Sleep Solutions for Children
A step by step guide for parents who want their toddler to stay in their bed and learn to self settle at night – Boss of my Sleep book.
Its bedtime and your children starts to refuse to go to bed, runs around the house, and even worse laughs, while you are trying to be serious and get them to bed.
When they finally get into the room often they will not sit still. When the stories are finished and you leave the room, they immediately follow you out many times!. The only way to get them to stay there is to stay in the room.
Why do children react this way at bedtime?
As parents, understanding why children do things may make it easier to change it. Children are at a stage in their lives where they want more independence, are learning the new rules that apply to them for behaving correctly, and yet they really want to be with their parents as much as they can. They are also at a stage that they being to understand how things work.
They are exploring, trying things out ,and forever on the go. As parents we are faced with a set of new challenges which make us have to set rules and say “NO” a lot !! Often we feel that we are always saying no… and they are always throwing tantrums. But we have to realize that rules must be made, and followed if we are to have a child who fits well into our society.
